This experiential article about pediatric gastroesophageal reflux (GER) is based on video-taped and transcribed interviews with 34 parents/caregivers and one child plus written impact statements prepared by two teens.

The statements are sorted into different Quality of Life (QoL) paradigms:

  • Emotional well-being of family members;
  • Emotional well-being of child;
  • Physical health of the child,
  • Physical health of the family;
  • Finances and employment;
  • Daily activities and social life;
  • Family relationships (Immediate and Extended);
  • How it helped emotionally to find other parents who understand reflux; and
  • Stress caused by people who didn’t “get-it” or weren’t helpful.
