Seeking: Families with Inherited GER

Researchers at Allegheny are still looking for families for the genetics study. The "ideal" family has at least 2 children with significant GER. A sizable extended family would also be a plus. If this describes your family, please fill out a genetic survey. Please print out this flyer and post it where it will be seen by other families.
Does Your Child Suffer from Acid Reflux?

Do you suspect that other members of your family have pediatric GER or had it when they were younger?
Please consider participating in a family study of pediatric gastroesophageal reflux.

The Pediatric Adolescent Gastroesophageal Reflux Association (PAGER) is collaborating with leading genetic researchers to learn how reflux runs in some families. We are seeking families with more than one child who has reflux to participate. We are particularly interested in finding large families with lots of kids and lots of cousins.

No blood test is required - you can swab the inside of your child's mouth with a tiny brush - older children and adults supply a saliva sample. The researchers will send you a sample collection kit with a postage paid return envelope and permission forms. Just pop it back in the mail!

Your family could hold the key to finally understanding what causes this disease.

More information about this study and sign up forms can be found on our web site at Your doctor may also have copies of the information.

If you don't have access to the Internet we can mail information. Call (301) 601-9541 and leave your address.
